Xbox Series X vs Xbox Series S – What to Choose?

Recently, two new consoles from Microsoft have appeared on the market, the Xbox Series X and S. I will try to present the topic to such an extent that you can decide for yourself what will be better for you, so that you will buy the console that will suit you best

Availability

There is no problem with availability, we can find these two consoles in every major electronics store. In the case of concretions, i.e. PS5, we can not count on buying in a large store because these consoles are simply not there. They can only be purchased from private sellers who bought the consoles very quickly and sell them for a higher price than the list price. You have to wait a few more months for deliveries from Sony, then everyone will be able to buy a new console from Sony

Building

The Xbox Series X is much larger than the Series S. This is due to the fact that in the Series X console there are stronger and larger components such as the processor, disk, graphics card, power supply, etc.
The Xbox Series S seems to be more suited to a modern living room interior due to its minimalist design and simplicity. The X console is large and its shape represents a cuboid. It has huge fans that cool such a large monster. The Series S, however, has small fans on both sides. It is quieter and easier to fit under most TV cabinets.

Quality

The materials used to make both consoles are of a very high standard. All of them show with dignity that it is high-quality equipment. The Series X console weighs almost 4kg. But no wonder because the console has better components than many gaming laptops. The workmanship is very good, however, you can stick to the stand which is not removable and disturbs while you put the consoles horizontally. This is a small drawback, but can be annoying. On the other hand, the Xbox Series S has no flaws that interfere with the appearance and in this respect the Xbox Series S wins

Cooling

Both Xboxes guarantee the highest cooling and three air flow channels evenly distribute the temperature generated by the advanced internal components, thanks to which the console works quietly and does not heat up. The Series X, however, has better cooling than the Series S because it is larger and more advanced.

Motherboard

The split motherboard features technology we haven’t seen before. It controls the temperature of internal components and thanks to this solution, the console works better and more efficiently.

Games

A very good move by Microsoft is to allow players from the Xbox series x console to play titles from older generations of consoles, for example, Xbox One or Xbox 360.
The competition, i.e. Sony Playstation 5, does not have such an option to play games from older consoles.
This is very bad behavior and only a trick on people who have to pay twice for games. This is not fair and sony should change their strategies.

Power

The Xbox Series X is equipped with 12 teraflops that stun when we see what they can do. AMD Zen 2 architecture and RTX technology provide realistic lighting, shadows and precise reflections, creating dynamic, vivid images of the world.
The Xbox Series X does not have the power of the Xbox Series X, but it can also do its job. It has 4 teraflops, AMD RDNA 2, 20 graphics and AMD Zen 2 3.8GHz processor. Both consoles have power and you can see it after a few hours of gameplay

RAM

The Xbox Series X has 16GB of Ram. The Series S has 10GB of RAM. The Quick Resume function allows you to resume the game you have closed. This only works because of the large amount of RAM. There is also this feature in the Xbox Series S. A very good move on the part of Microsoft to put the functions of the more expensive in the cheaper model.

Series S Drive Missing – Downside or Advantage?

Game consoles were associated with the fact that games are most often bought for disc. I think it is too early to give up the drives entirely. Of course, the lack of a drive is a disadvantage, if the Xbox gave up the drive in the Series X, many stores with boxed games would go bankrupt. In the next 5 generations of consoles, the drive still needs to be placed

Memory

The Xbox Series X has 1TB of memory and the Series S has 512GB. However, there is a very good thing, namely the ability to expand memory with small cards. However, these cards are very expensive. About £ 200 for 1TB. But it’s still a good option.

The surprise is the ability to support 8K and 4K at 120fps on the Series X. However, in the Series S we only have 1920×1080 and not 4K is very weak. The Xbox Series X wins this clash without a doubt because its power is impressive. The Xbox Series X is chosen because many people appreciate smooth gameplay in good resolution.

Summary

For people on a low budget, we recommend the Xbox Series S. As long as the lack of a drive does not mind. For people who appreciate the quality of 4K gameplay is Series X. But these two consoles are fantastic and anyone can buy whatever they want. We recommend the Series X more because the price is not too high and it has a lot to deal with. New generation Xboxes are very good consoles and the competition has a tough opponent.
